The University of Mississippi Libraries seeks to ensure that the graduates of the University of Mississippi are information literate—able to identify and use information appropriately in academic, job- related and personal contexts. We offer library usage sessions, instructor-led workshops, customized classes for UM and other groups, distance learning services, online tutorials, private consulting services for individuals, and other resources for instructors and learners.
Information Literacy and Research Skills Instruction
We, the faculty and staff of the University of Mississippi Libraries, believe that information literacy education is essential to academic success of our students. In the current digital information age, being information literate has become a necessity in all areas of life.
We regularly collaborate with faculty, instructional staff, and campus groups such as The Center for Writing and Rhetoric, The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Ole Miss Online, Outreach and Continuing Education and the FedEx Student-Athlete Academic Support Center, to design and deliver instruction that will ensure that all students have the opportunity develop the information literacy skill set they need they need to become efficient and effective users and producers of information.
